The NCS Secretary General Bernard Ogwel had earlier directed the Basketball governing body to suspend the National Basketball league in the wake of the COVID-19 second wave.
The Federation of Uganda Basketball Association, FUBA has asked the
National Council of Sports, NCS to okay the resumption of the 2021 National Basketball
league.
This follows the President’s directive that sports activities can continue but
without fans.

Basketball governing body to suspend the National Basketball league in the wake
of the COVID-19 second wave.
Naser Sserunjoji, FUBA President says that the Federation has appealed to the
NSC to okay the resumption of the league.

Sserunjoji made it clear that the Federation will observe the strict Standard
Operating Procedures.

Betway Power had previously registered two COVID19 positive cases,
however, in response, the federation suspended their next game against
Namuwongo Blazers that was supposed to be played on May 23. Bet power was
tasked to re-test players and provide negative tests before returning to play.
The National Basketball league resumed in April after a year of
inactivity, they had opted to use UCU and KIU courts in a bid to curb the
spread of the Virus. They believe that with schools closed it will be easy to
regulate the spectators. City Oilers are currently the leaders of the table with
12 points with only six games played in the regular season.
The 2020 Basketball league season plan for both National Basketball League
(NBL), Division one and Development league was called off because of the
lockdown.
