FUFA Drum: Over 5,000 West Nile Fans Leave for Gulu

More than 5000 football fans have set off for Gulu from Arua for the West Nile province tie against Acholi region in the Fufa drum tournament on Sunday.

  Some of the fans drawn from the nine districts that make up West Nile region dashed this morning to book buses ready to travel in the night to cheer their team.

The buses are charging Shillings 40,000 to and from Gulu.

Dennis Okwai, the Chairperson of the West Nile Province Fan’s Committee, says they have been overwhelmed by the massive turn up in the last three days.

Dola Jeyiti, one of the female mobilizers for the fans believes the massive turn up will give the West Nile team an advantage over their rivals.

West Nile province are hoping to overturn their 2-0 defeat by Acholi province and turn around their fate in the drum tournament.

  They are third placed on the table of group C with just 3 points behind Bunyoro who have 4 points. Acholi Province tops group C with 9 points.

  The West Nile Team will next week travel to face Bunyoro in Hoima.
