Election of the female Councillor for Katikamu Sub County and Wobulenzi town in Luweero district is paralyzed over the absence of ballot papers in several polling stations.

Affected polling stations include Kacwampa, Kiryamulondo, Kyalugondo, and Butanza.

Joseph Namwanje a voter at Kacwampa polling station says they were unable to vote for the female Councillor because ballot papers for the post were not dispatched by the Electoral Commission. She however says voting for all other positions is underway.

Alex Komuhangi, the Luweero district registrar confirms that the delivery was inadequate but adds that efforts are being made to send more ballot papers to the affected stations in order to ensure that voting for female councilors eventually takes place.

Four candidates are contesting for the seat. They include Doreen Nabukenya (NRM), Florence Nassanga Musoke (DP) Cissy Migadde and Deborah Batinda; both independent candidates.

DP candidate Florence Nassanga Musoke describes the development as confusing and disturbing. She adds that voters have lost confidence in the electoral commission as a result of such irregularities.

Today's exercise has however recorded a poor turn up of voters across Luweero district. Several polling stations had not recorded more than 10 voters, three hours from the official voting time.

Ronald Ndawula a candidate for Luweero LC Chairperson Seat on NRM ticket says that they have embarked on exercise of mobilizing voters to turn up.
