Plans are underway to construct a Shillings 9billion bridge across River Mpanga in Kamwenge district. The proposed bridge will connect Kamwenge town council to Kabambiro Sub County in Kamwenge district.
Uganda National Roads Authority-UNRA has already contracted Armpass Technical Services to undertake the construction works. While handing over the construction site to Armpass Technical Services over the weekend, Sharpe Tumwine, an engineer from UNRA, said the project will start with the bridge design, which is expected to take three months before the actual work begins in January next year.
He asked residents to cooperate with them for the successful implementation of the project. Speaking at the same event, Aggrey Natuhamya, the Kamwenge LC V Chairperson advised the contractors to stay away from trouble in the course of their work.

In his response, Engineer Joseph Mutebi from Armpass Technical Services said they will consider using local materials once it meets the project specifications. He also said they will hire local workers if they have the required qualifications for the job.
