Gov't Launches Construction of Fish Handling Facility in Kagadi

Government has embarked on the construction of a multi million Shillings fish handling facility in Kagadi district. 

The Kagadi District LC V Chairperson, Steven Byaruhanga Mfashingabo handed over the construction site to Global Engineering Ltd at Kitebere landing site in Ndaiga Sub County on Wednesday.

 

The project comprises of a fish handling plant, administration block, a six stance pit latrine and 24km gravel road. The project dubbed the multinational Lakes Edward and Albert Integrated Fisheries and Water Resource Management-LEAT 11 is estimated to cost over Shillings 2.1billion.

 

The construction work is expected to last for 12 months. The project also includes the Rehabilitation and maintenance of Ndaiga, Kitebere, and Kabukanga road as the government prepares to tarmac Muhorro-Ndaiga road.

 

While handing over the construction site, the Kagadi District LC V Chairperson, Steven Byaruhanga Mfashingabo scoffed at those who were thinking the project wouldn't come to pass. Mfashingabo said the district will do everything possible to ensure the project is implemented successfully.

The Kagadi Principal Administrative Secretary, Edward Bisangabasaija who represented the Chief Administrative Officer, promised the contractor total support from the district for the betterment of their people.

The representative from the Lakes Edward and Albert Integrated Fisheries and Water Resource Management-LEAT 11 project under the Water Ministry, Richard Lugadya assured the residents that the facility is meant to improve fish handling in the area.

 

He told residents that as the Water Ministry they care a lot about people's hygiene and asked them to embrace the project.
