Two people were injured when a hand grenade exploded in Bundibugyo town council, Bundibugyo district, police has confirmed.

The DPC says the explosive allegedly left behind by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels in the late 1990s, went off Monday morning, just as Kighoma was digging a hole for a pit latrine.
Namuwoza said that Kighoma hit the grenade after digging three feet underground in an area that was occupied by the ADF when they attacked Bundibugyo town.
He said that the situation is now calm as efforts to search for more explosives in the area goes on.
Namuwoza however revealed that several other grenades and land mines have been found in different parts of the district in the recent months.
The Coordinator the Anti-Mines Network-Rwenzori (AMNET-R) Wilson Bwambale confirmed the presence of different explosives that were abandoned by fighters during the ADF war.
Bwambale said that efforts are being taken by AMNET-R with the help of experts from Danish mining Center based in Denmark to destroy the bombs that have already been discovered in different parts of the Rwenzori region.
