The Oitino dam located in Patiko subcounty in Gulu district has dried up with water levels getting as low as 0.08 metres from 4.65 metres.water supply has dropped from 2.3 million cubic liters of water to 1.5 million cubic litres.
Gulu district is experiencing one of the worst dry spells in 23 years.

Oitino dam, which has supplied water to the district for the past 23 years had dried up creating a serious crisis in the area. The level of water has reduced by nearly 4.7 meters at the banks and five meters in the middle of the dam, according to a statement issued by National Water and Sewerage Corporation.

As a result, water supply has dropped from 2.3 million cubic liters of water to 1.5 million cubic liters in less than a week. Residents are seen trekking distances and all over the town and surrounding other water sources in search of water.
