Gulu Offers Land for Construction of Regional Industrial Hub

The industrial hub project will provide vocational skills training including carpentry and joinery tailoring, shoemaking, stone cutting, bakery, craftsmanship and hairdressing specifically for the youths from the eight districts of Acholi and parts of West Nile Sub Region.

Gulu district local government has offered 65 acres of land for the construction of a regional industrial hub in Acholi Sub Region. The land is located Kom Ker Village Oding Parish in Unyama Sub County.

Justine Toorach the Unyama Sub County Chairperson says that the land was offered by more than thirty households free of charge following a negotiation with Gulu district over benefits of the project.

The offer followed President Yoweri Museveni`s pledge of constructing a regional industrial park to provide vocational skills training in Acholi sub-region during his countrywide tour recently. 

Milton Kato, the Chief Administrative Officer Gulu says that the district has carried out assessment at the site and informed the Office of the President. 

The industrial hub project will provide vocational skills training including carpentry and joinery tailoring, shoemaking, stone cutting, bakery, craftsmanship and hairdressing specifically for the youths from the eight districts of Acholi and parts of West Nile Sub Region.  

Lucy Nakyobe, the State House Controproller said government will equip the Centre with all learning tools and accommodation and feeding the beneficiaries.

Former Gulu Municipal Youth Councillor, Samuel Agwani Oyet asked the community to own the project citing that it will help to transform lives of the youths and women through the skills training.
