Gun Loser Charged, Bailed

After ten days in Bushenyi district police custody, Sgt. Edward Mande was on Tuesday produced at Bushenyi Magistrates Court where he denied the two charges of losing a gun and carrying a fire arm while drunk.
After ten days in Bushenyi district police custody, Sgt. Edward Mande was on Tuesday produced at Bushenyi Magistrates Court where he denied the two charges of losing a gun and carrying a fire arm while drunk.

 Mande appeared before Bushenyi grade one magistrate, Phillip Ojie and was bailed at a non cash bail of two million shillings.

The state prosecutor, Jane Musiimenta told court that on December 24, 2011, Mande, while in Bushenyi town bar lost a pistol number 266645 loaded with seven rounds of ammunitions.

Three sureties, Sarapio Magambo, Sarah Night Mande and one Syamutsyangira stood surety for the police officer, who until his arrest was in charge of the armoury at Bushenyi police station.

The magistrate told him to return to court for the mention of his case on February 3.
