Gunmen Raid Kween District, One Killed

Three gunmen in military uniform on Friday night raided Kween district stealing 19 heads of cattle at gun point. On their way back to Nakapiripirit district, however, one of them was shot dead in an ambush staged at Nataparangan village, Nakapiripirit district.

On their way back to Nakapiripirit district, however, one of them was shot dead in an ambush staged at Nataparangan village, Nakapiripirit district.

 

The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) identifies the dead rustler as Loumo Limasia, a son of Ekodai Loote of Cuucu village, Nabilatuk Sub County in Nakapiripirit district.

 

Capt. Deo Akiiki, the UPDF 3rd Division Spokesperson says Limasia, at the time of his death, was putting on an old ceremonial UPDF uniform. He explains that he also had pips for a lieutenant. He adds that the rustlers had stolen 19 heads of cattle belonging to one Fred Satia.  

  

Akiiki notes that on a number of occasions the rustlers have sometimes camouflaged in military attires, adding that security agencies have commenced investigations to find out how the military gear end up in the hands of wrong elements.

 

 Okot Obwona, the Regional Police Commander Moroto area explains that security agencies have intensified their intelligence to fight animal thefts in South Karamoja.

 

Meanwhile, on Saturday the UPDF shot dead another suspected warrior in Nasinyoit village at the Moroto-Nakapiripirit border.
