The Police in Arua has today displayed items including two guns they say were recovered from the hotel room in Arua that was occupied by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine.

Items displayed as exhibits reportedly recovered from the room at Hotel Pacific that Bobi Wine occupied include two AK 47 guns with 30 rounds of Ammunitions each, a Pistol with 8 rounds of ammunitions, several mobile phones, red caps, T-shirts, among other items were paraded before the press in the office of the RPC north Western at 1pm today

While exhibiting the items to the media, Josephine Angucia the police spokesperson for West Nile said police recovered the two AK 47 guns from the room of MP Kyagulanyi at Hotel Pacific while the pistol was got with Kassiano Wadri on arrest.

However, when asked in which room the police recovered the items and whether the owner and management of hotel pacific is aware of the discovery of the items in the hotel room, the police spokesperson referred the press to the hotel management.

Angucia says the two have been charged with Treason under Arua CPS CRB 3444/18 Treason, which according to the Ugandan law carries death sentence.   //Cue in: “A team of joint forces… Cue out: during the time of arrest …”

But Luigi Candia, the proprietor of hotel pacific, when interviewed by URN reporter dismissed the police statement as untrue and aimed at covering up ‘vandalism and robbery' done by the special forces army.

He however explained that on Monday evening, the hotel was besieged by the army who beat up the workers, vandalized guest rooms, destroyed furniture and went away with over Uganda Shillings 80 million from the hotel and guests.

Mr Luigi says he is documenting all the losses incurred as a result of the destruction caused by the army which besieged the hotel through the night of Monday until Tuesday afternoon when they left and police came in after all the destruction was already done.   //Cue in: “I'm yet to get details… Cue out: police is investigating …”

According to some of the hotel staff URN spoke to, 20 rooms were vandalized and their locks destroyed, three of their staff including the watchman were beaten and are still receiving treatment and guest items worth millions of shillings taken by the soldiers.

On Monday during the chaos one of Bobi Wine's driver's Yasiin Kawuma was shot dead at Hotel Pacific by an unknown person.
