Two hawkers accused of assaulting and stabbing Kampala Capital Authority-KCCA law enforcement officers have appeared before Buganda Road magistrate’s court.

Abdu Sejjoba and Juma Akakwansa appeared before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate, Mariam Akello on Tuesday afternoon.

Court heard that while in New Taxi park on July 17th, 2020 Ssejoba assaulted Musa Mutyaba who was enforcing trade order in the park.

Akankwasa on the other hand allegedly stabbed Lameck Mutebi and John Lubega who were also on duty.

However, Akello couldn’t read charges for Akankwasa since he was presented with a visible swollen eye and wounds on his body.

Akankwasa couldn’t stand and was supported by two court orderly officers. Ssejoba pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded to Kitalya Prisons in Wakiso district.

Akello couldn’t allow Akankwansa to plead to the charges because of his sorry condition.

She ordered prosecution to keep him in police custody and treat him until on Monday next week when he will return to plead to the charges.

KCCA spokesperson, Daniel Muhumuza NuweAbine, says the officers who were stabbed are steadily recovering and have since been discharged from Norvick hospital.
