The Headteacher of Lumino High School in Busia district has been
tasked to refund 24 Million Shillings meant for the purchase of a school bus.
In 2016, parents through the Parent’s Teachers Association agreed to contribute
10,000 Shillings per term per child for the purchase of a school bus. Since then, the parents had collected more than 90 Million Shillings.
However they were surprised to find out that 66.8 Million Shillings was remaining on
the account in Stanbic Bank. There are four signatories to the account
including the headteacher, PTA chairperson, treasurer and secretary.
The bank statement obtained by parents indicates that 24 Million Shillings was withdrawn
by the Headteacher Peter Ogooro without their consent. Parents have now tasked Ogooro to refund the money with immediate effect.
However, Ogooro, says that the money was used to facilitate the school administrator
and District LCV Chairperson to go to State House to make a follow up on the presidential pledge for the bus.
Moses Oguttu, a parent accuses Makaali of swindling the money and
want him to refund it without any further delays.
