Interdiction letter of Dokolo district Health Assistant George Ongom
George Ongom, the Dokolo District Health Assistant is on interdiction for alleged indiscipline. He was interdicted by the Chief Administrative Officer, Joseph Balisanyuka in a June 24th letter in line with Public Service standing orders.

According to Balisanyuka, Ongom will receive half pay during the interdiction until he is cleared by Court. Trouble for Ongom started after he appeared before the Dokolo Magistrate’s Court on June 06, 2019 for assault and being a public nuisance.

Ongom was dragged to court for assaulting Patrick Bwonyo, the Ogora Clan Chief and teacher at Bata Primary School whom he accused of supporting a rival leader of their clan.

Ongom has denied the allegations leveled against him, saying he was never given a fair hearing by the Chief Administrative Officer.

He attributes his current troubles to the ongoing dispute at the Lango Cultural Foundation headed by Yosam Odur, the incumbent paramount Chief and Tekwaro Lango led by Eng. Michael Odongo Okune.

According to Ongom, Bwonyo whom he is accused of assaulting has for long been supporting Alfred Okello, a rival Ogora clan Head against the legitimate clan leader. Ongom will return to court on July 16th, 2019.

In 2018, while serving as the health Assistant for Kwera Sub County, Ongom was interdicted after he had erroneously stopped operations at Kwera Health Centre III, saying the facility was operating without toilets, which turned out to be false.

He was then reinstated early this year and subsequently posted to Bata Town Council as the area Health Assistant.
