Moses Omara, the in charge of Okwongo health Centre III in Adwari Sub County in Otuke district is in trouble for allegedly abandoning his patients. Omara was picked up on Monday on the directives of Robert Obwak, the Otuke Resident district commissioner.

It all started after some residents complained of absenteeism of medical workers at the newly refurbished health center. Obwak says that he visited the health center on Saturday and Sunday but found none of the 11 health center at the unit on duty.

As a result, he mobilized health workers from other health centers to come and attend to patients at Obwak health center.

He ordered police to pick up Moses Omara, the in charge of Okwongo health Center III for negligence of duty.  Police swung up in action and picked Irene Abalo, a medical worker at the health center who arrived at 3pm. Abalo explained that she had just traveled to the health center from Kampala where she was on official leave.

She was pardoned by the RDC since she was the first to arrive.

Denis Okello, who lives about 400 meters away from the health center says he saw dozens of patients mostly including children and new mothers being turned away from the health center.

John Bosco Olwit Dagama, the Adwari Sub County LC III chairperson says they have repeatedly cautioned the medical workers against absconding  from duty in vain. He described Omara as a weak administrator. Omara is currently being held at Otuke Central Police station.
