Health Centres in Busia District have received Personal Protective
Equipment-PPEs. They were donated by Busia Area Community Federation, a non-profit making organization supported by Child Fund International.
The PPEs worth 220 million shillings include gumboots, face masks,
hand sanitizers, gowns, gloves, hand washing facilities among others.
They will be distributed to health centre IIs and IIIs
across the district.
Some of the health facilities to benefit include; Buhehe health centre III,
Lumino Health Center III, Majanji Health Center III, Sibona Health Center II
among others.
Dr Willis Syongola, the Acting District Health Officer says that the district
has been grappling with PPEs especially for the lower health facilities, yet
the district is prone to COVID-19 due to its closeness to Kenya.

Busia district being at the border, the government should give it special
consideration to enable health workers deliver services to the people.

Geoffrey Kyeyune, the District Councillor for Buyanga sub-county appealed to
the government to provide the district with more PPEs for health workers and tents to reduce
congestion in the health centres.
