Heavy Rains Destroy Bundibugyo School

Nicholas Kweyaya, the head teacher of Kakuka Hill Secondary School, expressed concern about the impact of the tragedy on the student's learning environment.
Heavy rains accompanied by a windstorm have caused significant damage in Sindila Sub County, Bundibugyo district. Kakuka Hill Secondary School was among the structures severely affected by the natural disaster. The school's laboratory and library were destroyed, with parts of the roof blown off.

The devastation extended beyond the school, leaving more than 300 people homeless and without food in various areas across the sub-county. The heavy rains destroyed their houses and crop gardens, compounding the difficulties faced by the affected communities.

Nicholas Kweyaya, the head teacher of Kakuka Hill Secondary School, expressed concern about the impact of the tragedy on the students' learning environment. With end-of-term examinations approaching, the destruction of school facilities has disrupted learning.

Blasio Kamabu, the Sindila sub-county LC III chairperson has urgently requested assistance from both local and central government authorities to aid the affected families and reconstruction of Kakuka Hill Secondary School.

As a government-aided institution, the school has been providing education to many students whose families cannot afford school fees..
