The Administration of Hoima Regional Referral Hospital is in trouble over the death of a mother after delivery. The hospital is accused of causing the death of 37-year-old Edita Owimana, a resident of Kakindo in Kakumiro district.
Owimana was rushed to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital on Friday afternoon with labor pains. She delivered around 11pm through C-section. It is alleged that on Saturday morning, hospital cleaners stormed the labor ward and kicked out all patients to allow them to clean it.
Owimana, who had just been operated on and could neither talk nor walk, was left in the ward without an attendant. It is alleged that the cleaner pushed Owimana's hospital bed forcing her to fall off and die lead to commotion between patients and hospital workers.
Colodhine Omuliisa, the deceased's attendant, says the cleaners insulted and pushed her away when she insisted to remain in the ward and watch over the deceased.
