The body of Al Haj Muhammad Kaggwa commonly known as Medi Kaggwa, the former Chairperson of Uganda Human Rights Commission has been laid to rest.

Kaggwa’s body was buried this afternoon at his ancestral home in Lufuka village in Mpigi town council of Mpigi district by hundreds of mourners.

Kaggwa suffered a cardic attack leading to his death on Wednesday morning while driving to his office.

Several speakers at the funeral highlighted the deceased’s good deeds and hard work in various capacities.  Kaggwa represented Kawempe South constituency in the Constituent Assembly and in the sixth parliament.

He also served as State Minister in the Office of the President and represented Uganda in the East African legislative assembly.

Speaking at the funeral, Sheikh Umar Bakar, described the late Kaggwa as a trustworthy person compared to private school heads who are fleecing parents with demands for unnecessary requirements.

He noted that it is unbelievable that most private schools demand for various requirements such as reams of papers from learners even in nursery who can’t use them.

Some of the prominent mourners included Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, the Vice President, Al Haj Badru Kiggundu, the former Electoral Commission Chairperson and Haji Moses Kigongo, the national National Resistance Movement-NRM party Vice Chairperson and Members of parliament.
