Police in Ibanda are stranded with two children who were allegedly kidnapped from Bundibugyo and abandoned in the district. Charles Bampabwire Kitiribita, the Officer in Charge of the Family and Children Protection Unit at Ibanda Central Police station identifies the children as 7-year-old Collins Atuhaire and 6-year-old Immaculate Tusiime.

According to Kitiribita, the children were dropped at the station by good Samaritans. He says the children were found loitering at Katehe mining site in Kagongo ward, Ibanda Town council on Monday, where they had been abandoned by their kidnappers.

Kitiribita says the children were kidnapped by the two men who asked them to help trace for their parents Stephen Karenzi and Racheal Banura of Kahunge sub-county in Kamwenge district. He however, says that on reaching the road, the kidnappers blindfolded the minors and drove them to the quarry where they abandoned them.

According to Kitiribita, they are waiting for the parents of the minors to show up as they hunt for the alleged kidnappers.
