The Bugweri Resident District Commissioner Gad Rugajju has blocked
Ezra Gabula, the National Resistance Movement-NRM flag bearer for L.C.V
chairmanship from holding a memorial service of the late Second Deputy Prime
Minister, Ali Kirunda Kivejinja.
The service which was to attract more than 200 guests was scheduled to be held
at the Bugweri district headquarters on Saturday. Last month, Kivejinja
succumbed to covid-19 after spending weeks in the Mulago national referral
hospital’s intensive care unit.
Gabula under his umbrella organization of Mukono Skilling center, Bugweri
branch had planned to organize a memorial service to honour Kivejinja’s
contribution towards the development of Bugweri. However, Rugajju argues that
such events can only be organized in consultation with the bereaved family.
In Gabula’s earlier letter dated 29th, December, addressed to the Chief Administrative Officer, Nelson Kirenda, he noted that the event is a
special dedication to Kivejinja over his tireless efforts in agitating for the
betterment of education systems in Bugweri.
The spokesperson of Kivejinja’s family, Yusuf Kirunda told journalists that the event would create confusion within the deceased’s family and entire
Moslem fraternity.
Rugajju argues that Kivejinja’s family is highly respected with several
stakeholders monitoring their affairs therefore such events if not well
screened will cast shame on the family.
//cue in: “it is strongly…
Cue out…will come in”.
Rugajju further says that the district security committee will close
down Gabula’s institution if he defies their directive.
