The Inspector General of Police –IGP Abbas Byakagaba has appointed six acting directors after the expiry of contracts of six Assistant Inspector General of Police –AIGPs. Among the AIGPs whose contracts have expired include Grace Akullo who has been director Interpol.

Abbas Byakagaba has appointed six acting directors after the expiry of contracts of six Assistants Inspector General of Police.
Among the AIGPs whose
contracts have expired include Grace Akullo who has been the Director Interpol,
Fadhir Kaali Director of Fire and Rescue Services, Charles Birungi serving as Director of Welfare and Production, Richard Edyegu who was
serving as Director of Logistics and Engineering, John Ndungutse the Police Attaché in Nairobi.
In the new acting and permanent appointments,
AIGP Joseph Mugisa who formerly served as director Fire and Rescue Services has
been picked up from retirement by IGP Byakagaba and deployed him under his
office. Senior Commissioner of Police –SCP James Apora has been appointed to
replace AIGP Edyegu as Acting Director of Logistics and Engineering.
SCP Joseph Obwana who has been one
of the deputies to AIGP Akullo has been elevated to replace his boss in an acting capacity.
Former Kampala Metropolitan Policing Area (KMP) Commander SCP Stephen Tanui has
been appointed as Acting director of Fire and Rescue replacing his boss AIGP Kaali.
SCP Elias Kassirabo from Human
Resource Administration is appointed Attaché Uganda High Commission in Nairobi
replacing AIGP Ndungutse. SCP Yusuf SSewanyana formerly director ICT has been appointed
Deputy Director Interpol Division a position he will hold alongside former
Police Spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga.

Directorate of Logistics & Engineering to Directorate of Fire Prevention
& Rescue as Deputy Director, Commissioner of Police -CP Sarah Kibwika from
the Directorate of Human Resource Administration & Management is appointed

Production & Sports and CP Agaptus Ecotu from Directorate of Human Resource
Administration & Management to Field Force Unit as Deputy Commander.
