The Fisheries Protection Unit in Entebbe has impounded two tons of immature fish valued at 300 million shillings.  The fish was found in Bwaise Market and taken back to Bugonga landing site in Entebbe.

The fish is said to have been tracked from Lake Kyoga where it was allegedly loaded from.

Captain Isaac Ewaga, the Commandant of the Fisheries Protection Unit in Entebbe says that soldiers were tipped off by one of the fishermen on Lake Kyoka of a vehicle that was carrying immature fish.

The fisheries protection Unit was instituted in February 2017 by the President to curb illegal fishing activities on Uganda's lakes.

Jane Namusoke the former BMU at Bugonga landing site says that the government should also halt the importation of fishing gears used in illegal fishing if the vice is to end.
