Inmate Hacks Prison Wardress to Death in Oyam

Adupa has been serving a 10-year jail sentence after he was convicted in 2016 of murdering his wife. He had only three years to be released.
Police in Oyam District have arrested an inmate for allegedly hacking to death a wardress at Loro Prison.  

The suspect identified as Benson Adupa, aged 28 and a resident of Chegere Sub County, Apac district reportedly hit Christine Abonyo on the head using an axe on Friday.  

Adupa has been serving a 10-year jail sentence after he was convicted in 2016 of murdering his wife. He had only three years to be released.

The officer in charge Loro Prison, Hannington Mucunguzi, says that the deceased was supervising the inmates cooking in the kitchen when Adupa picked an axe and hit her on the head.

According to Mucunguci, after killing Abonyo, he fled but was later arrested by the prison warders.

Mucunguzi said that Adupa had been relocated Adupa to the main Shamba where he would be taken to the garden every day to dig.

David Ongom Mudong, the North Kyoga Regional spokesperson said Adupa is currently being held at Oyam CPS.
