Jackson Muhwezi, the Ishaka-Bushenyi Municipality treasurer has been arrested for forgery and withdrawing money from the municipal bank account.

Muhwezi was picked by police officers from his home in Mazinga Ward Nyakabirizi Division on Thursday.

Muhwezi's arrest comes a month after he was interdicted on the orders of the Local Government Minister Raphael Magyezi. This was after Ishaka Bushenyi Municipal councillors petitioned his office to intervene in allegations of corruption and abuse of office at the municipal council.
