Makerere University has postponed the issuance of the Public Universities Joint Admissions Board-PUJAB forms to Monday next week.

Senior six candidates are required to fill PUJAB forms for admission to public universities and tertiary institutions.

They include Makerere University; Mbarara University of Science and Technology; Kyambogo University; Gulu University; Busitema University; Muni University; Kabale University; Lira University. Usually, candidates fill the PUJAB forms between November and December.

However, this time around this exercise delayed because of the indefinite closure of Makerere University, which coordinates the exercise.

President, Yoweri Museveni ordered the closure of Makerere University on November 1, 2016 following failed negotiations between the university council, administration and striking lecturers over their unpaid salary incentives for eight months.

Recently, the Education and Sports Ministry directed Makerere University to issue the 2017/18 Public Universities Joint Admissions Board (PUJAB) forms.

As a result, the university set November 28th to commence the exercise but it didn't take off. Ritah Namisango, the Senior Public Relations Officer, Makerere University, attributed the delay to the failure by the respective schools to pay for the PUJAB forms.

"Given the closure of Makerere University, schools were not able to effect payment required for PUJAB. Yet you can only access the PUJAB forms after payment," Namisango said.

According to Namisango, the office of the Academic Registrar has dispatched communication to the respective head Teachers notifying them to use this week to effect the required payment of a non-refundable fee of Shillings 52,000 for each candidate for the forms.
