All 50 passengers are reported safe after a Jaguar company bus caught fire on Monday morning along the Kisoro-Kabale highway.
The incident occurred at around 07:10am at Nyakabande near Kisoro airstrip about three kilometres from Kisoro town.
The bus registration number UAT 710C was carrying over 50 passengers heading to Kampala from Kisoro town.
The Kisoro District Police Commander, Charles Okoto, says that no passenger was hurt as they all ran out of the bus when they saw frames which started by consuming the front tyres.
Although security officers improvised with a fire truck at Kisoro airstrip, it was too late as the bus continued and burnt the bus beyond recognition.
Okoto says that the goods which were in the boot were all burnt to ashes. He says that police has kicked off investigations to establish the exact cause of the fire.
The bus conductor, who declined to reveal his identities, says that he also doesn't know what could have caused the fire, since the bus was in good mechanical condition by the time they started the journey in Kisoro town.
