Supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) in Jinja City are demanding the immediate release of Shakur Ssentongo, the NUP mobilizer in Jinja City.

Ssentongo was abducted by unknown people in a Noah car from his shop in Bugembe Agaliawamu Market in the Northern Division. He is known for selling red berets, overalls, t-shirts, and red shirts.

Pastor Muwanguzi Andrew, the NUP Head of Ideology, Patriotism, and Training says that they have repeatedly demanded the release of Ssentongo and other abducted foot soldiers, in vain.

One of the previously abducted individuals, Mubya Hussein, who was arrested and later released, recounted his abduction by unknown men in an unmarked car.

He says that he was taken to Mbuya Military Barracks where he was tortured by men in uniform. Hussein stated that this was the second time he had been abducted by CMI (Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence), having been first abducted from Alshafa Hospital in Mpumumwire on March 13.

Ntanga Ramathan condemned the government's actions, accusing it of spreading hatred against the opposition and suppressing freedom by abducting their members.

Medi Mutebi, the NUP Chairman in Jinja City, identified one of the abducted youths as Media Gaza, who was taken earlier at 10 a.m. in Bugembe.

Pastor Muwanguzi, called for immediate justice for their missing colleagues.
