Jinja Speaker Accused of Joining Politics Without Resigning from Public Service

"I am a responsible citizen who diligently resigned from civil service before joining active politics but, such falsehoods are being orchestrated by detractors aimed at deterring me from focusing on implementing my five year leadership agenda," Namukose says.

The newly elected Jinja district speaker, Monica Namukose is being accused of participating in elective politics without resigning from her government job.

According to a complaint presented to the Jinja district chief administrative officer, William Kanyesigye, by the male older persons councilor Juma Mujoma, Namukose who is a government paid primary teacher is accused of failure to resign from her job even after being elected to position of a district council speaker.

Mujoma challenged Kanyesigye to expedite the matter and promised to seek court redress in case his complaint is not addressed with the utmost attention it deserves.

Namukose however, stresses that, she adhered to the rightful procedures of resignation before joining active politics.

"I am a responsible citizen who diligently resigned from civil service before joining active politics but, such falsehoods are being orchestrated by detractors aimed at deterring me from focusing on implementing my five year leadership agenda," Namukose says.

Meanwhile, Kanyesigye promised to investigate the matter but declined to delve into details of how he is going to do it.
