Jinja Woman Remanded for Child Theft

Kisakye was arrested on 28th, June, 2018, in UEB zone, Njeru municipality, following a tip off from her neighbors who saw her with a crying baby boy yet she had never been pregnant and informed the police.

The Jinja Grade One Magistrate has remanded a woman to prison for allegedly stealing a child.

Oliver Kisakye is accused of stealing a three months baby boy from its mother, Agnes Apio, a resident of Masese III Village.

It is alleged that Kisakye disguised as a good samaritan offering a job to Apio only to disappear with her child.

Kisakye was arrested last week in UEB zone, Njeru municipality, following a tip-off from her neighbours. They saw her carrying a crying child and yet she had never been seen pregnant.

Kisakye reportedly informed her friend, Rose Banamwita, that her sister had passed away and left the child under her care.

On Wednesday, Sumaya Kasule, the Jinja Grade One Magistrate remanded Kisakye to Kirinya Prisons until 18th, July 2018.
