Justice Musa Ssekaana Appointed Head of Civil Division

According to the statement from the Judiciary, Ssekaana, who has been the deputy head of the court, replaces Justice Michael Elubu who has been transferred to the Criminal Division.

Justice Musa Ssekaana has been appointed the Head of Civil Division of the High Court.

According to the statement from the Judiciary, Ssekaana, who has been the deputy head of the court, replaces Justice Michael Elubu who has been transferred to the Criminal Division. 

Justice Wilson Kwesiga who has been the head of the Criminal Division will now remain as a Judge, while Justice Emmanuel Baguma will now be the Deputy Head of Civil Division. 

Justice Tadeo Asiimwe who has been the Resident Judge at High Court circuit in Mbarara returns to Kampala as the Deputy Head of the Criminal Division.

Justice Stephen Mubiru who recently handled businessman Mathew Kanyamunyu’s case and has been a resident Judge for Gulu is now the Head of the Commercial Division.

The transfers made by the Principal Judge Dr Flavian Zeija also indicate that Dr Andrew Bashaija who has been away on sick leave will resume duties as the Deputy head of the International Crimes Division replacing Lady Justice Susan Okalany who will remain there as a Judge.

Lady Justice Ketrah Kitariisibwa Katunguka is now the deputy head of the Family Division and she will be working with Lydia Mugambe who has been picked from the Criminal Division.

The others who have been transferred are Justice Dr. Henry Peter Adonyo from Commercial Division to Soroti as Senior Resident Judge, Lady Justice Elizabeth Kabanda from the defunct Execution Division to Mukono as new Resident Judge, Lady Justice Henrietta Wolayo from the defunct Execution Division to Mubende as new Resident Judge.

Lady Justice Margret Mutonyi who has been the Deputy Head of the defunct Execution Division will go to criminal division as a Judge.

Others are Lady Justice Jane. F Kiggundu who has been the Deputy Head International Crimes Division has been transferred to Mbarara as the Resident Judge. Lady Justice Patricia Basaza Wasswa from Mukono as Resident Judge has been taken to the Land Division as a Judge.

Lady Justice Dr. Winfred Nabisinde from the Criminal Division is transferred to Jinja as the Resident Judge.  Justice Alex Mackay Ajiji who has been the Resident Judge Lira will now go to Gulu as the Resident Judge, whereas Justice Anthony Ojok leaves the Criminal Division to Mpigi as the Resident Judge.    

Justice Isaac Muwata the Resident Judge Mubende has been transferred to Lira in the same capacity, whereas Lady Justice Joyce Kavuma the Resident Judge Mbarara has been elevated to a Senior Resident Judge Mbarara.  

Others are; Justice Jesse Byaruhanga Rugyema who has been transferred from Mbale as a resident Judge to Masindi as resident judge and Justice Wamala Boniface from the Commercial Division will go to the Civil Division together with Justice Phillip Odoki who has been in Mpigi.

 Lady Justice Jean Rwakakoko has also been transferred from Jinja as the Resident Judge to the Commercial Division.

According to the Principal Judge Dr Flavian Zeija, the judges will first complete cases that are in advanced stages before the handover and relocation to the new stations.

The Principal Judge also says some transfers will help Justices Flavia Ssenoga and Kwesiga of the Criminal Division who will be retiring next month and at the end of the year respectively.
