Police in Pader District is hunting for a 17-year-old juvenile
over allegations of attempted robbery and illegal possession of a firearm.
The suspect is a resident of Kanakok East village,
Palwo parish in Pajule Sub-County, Aruu North County.
He was spotted with an AK-47 rifle during an attempted robbery on a Fuso
Lorry registration number UEA 517T that was parked at night along Pajule-Kitgum
Road following a mechanical breakdown. His accomplice Raphael Okello, a
resident of the same village was arrested and is in custody.
The two on Wednesday waylaid the lorry that was carrying
merchandise from Lira heading to Kitgum and fired two bullets at the occupants.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson disclosed that
Okello, who is in custody, was arrested by revellers in Pajule Trading Centre
when he was spotted running following the gunshots and was handed over to police.

According to Okema the suspect admitted that they tried to rob the stationary

Tito Okello Brilliant, the LC 3 Chairperson of Pajule Sub-County said Okwera
was spotted with a gun by a school watchman.
Tito further revealed that the fugitive on Sunday allegedly waylaid
a woman at night in the outskirts of Pajule Trading Centre.
Dusman Okee, the Pader Resident District Commissioner, said that the juveniles
should surrender the gun so that they are accorded clemency or face the wrath
of the security personnel.
