Councillors in Southern Division in Kabale Municipality have threatened to shun council meetings over failure to pay their allowances.

The councillors, who earn 86,000 shillings as allowance per sitting, are demanding allowances for the last three months. They argue that failure by the division to pay their allowances has affected their cost of living.

Pontias Byoruganda the councillor representing the elderly says that they have lost the morale to serve the electorate due to lack of the allowances.

He also wonders why the Assistant town clerk has failed to explain the delay.
