Isaac Mucunguzi Rushoga, the independent Northern Division LCIII candidate
in Kabale municipality is on spot for allegedly assaulting a campaign agent of
Mucunguzi is alleged to have assaulted Francis Byaruhanga alias
Bafana, a resident of Nyakairima village, Northern
division, Kabale municipality on Sunday.
Byaruhanga, says that while walking in Kabale town, Mucunguzi
jumped out of his vehicle armed with a stick and grabbed him on the neck.
Byaruhanga says that Mucungizi demanded an explanation why he always carries posters of Patrick Tushabomwe, his rival and the National
Resistance Movement (NRM) flag-bearer.
Byaruhanga says that Mucunguzi beat him on the stomach and back
until he fell on the ground unconscious. Byaruhanga says that Mucungizi had prior
threatened to harm him.
Byaruhanga says that he has already opened the case against
Mucunguzi at Rwakaraba police post.

Brian Ampeire, Kabale District Police Commander says that he is
not yet aware of the matter. He promised to follow it up.
When contacted, Mucungizi says that Byaruhanga invaded his home in
upper Bugongi ward, northern division carrying and chanting songs of his
Rushoga says that Byaruhanga who was alleges that he was under the influence
of alcohol declined to cooperate and instead started fighting when he was
ordered to vacate.
Mucunguzi who is also the incumbent Northern LCIII chairman
contested as an independent candidate, after losing to Tushabomwe in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries last year.
