Kabalega SSS heamaster Sent on Forced Leave

Igdious Magara, the headmaster of Kabalega secondary school in Masindi has been suspended.



Magara was suspended by John Agaba, the commissioner for higher education during a heated meeting at the school.



Agaba had gone to Kabalega to reconcile the headmaster with the board members and the teachers, who accuse him of grossly mismanaging the institution.



He was however left with no option but to suspend Magara when he realized that most of the differences were about issues of accountability.



Magara who has been at Kabalega since February this year is among others accused of causing financial loss of over ten million shillings.



He is also accused of not following procurement procedures and being arrogant to teachers, board members and parents.



Jos Wamara, the chairman of the school's board committee says the one month forced leave is to allow thorough auditing of Magara.



As the meeting progressed, some students shouted through the windows saying, "He has to go"



Magara insists that he is being taunted because his target was to eliminate corruption. But teachers say immediately he joined Kabalega, Magara fell prey to his own gospel.



Magara, formerly from Bishop Ogez secondary school in Bushenyi district, says before joining Kabalega he led a perfect professional life, only to be messed up in just one year.
