The speaker of parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has lashed at
powerful government officials over sponsoring opposition candidates to unseat
her in the Kamuli district woman parliamentary race.
Kadaga will face off with Forum for Democratic Change’s-FDC eastern
region vice chairperson, Salam Musumba and national unity platform’s-NUP Bridget
Babirye.
With over three decades in Parliament,
Kadaga is seeking another term to represent the people of Kamuli as their MP.
While launching her campaigns at Bulyango primary school in
Namwendwa sub county in Kamuli district on Monday, Kadaga said that the same powerful officials
attempted to oust her during the 2016 general elections but failed.
Kadaga advised the electorate to vote wisely and ignore
mudslinging from her critiques who are aiming at frustrating development by
fighting strong leaders within Busoga sub region.
She further accused opponents of using lies to win sympathy
from unsuspecting voters other than unveiling their manifestos and let the
electorates choose a befitting leader.

Kadaga adds that, she will continue championing women
empowerment and girl child education.
Meanwhile Bugabula south MP, Morris Kibalya has challenged
members of public to ignore money inducements and elect leaders with the capacity
to lobby developmental projects which will foster economic empowerment of the
electorates.
