Romeo Onek Ojara, the Kagadi District Police commander told Uganda Radio Network on Tuesday that they picked up the suspect when his wife Yusitina reported the disappearance of their child to police.
A man in Kagadi is in
trouble for strangling his one month baby girl to death and dumping her body in
a pit latrine. Twenty –year-old Silver Amariat, who hails from Soroti district,
is locked up at Kagadi police station.
The infant’s mother, Yusitina, says she left the baby with the suspect on
their bed on Monday evening and went to prepare food. She says that on her return;
the baby was missing prompting her to ask Amariat who gave contradictory
statements.
This prompted her to
report the matter to police, which swung into action.

He says they mounted a search together with
residents and recovered the baby’s lifeless body from a toilet belonging to
Seyeya Hotel in Kagadi town on Tuesday Morning.

Police handed the body to Kagadi General Hospital mortuary
for postmortem before it was handed to the relatives for burial.
