Kaharo Sub County Stuck With Broken Bridges

Jolly Binamaryo, a resident of Kitohwa parish in Kaharo Sub County says the failure to repair the bridges has affected the transportation of farm produce to markets.

Kaharo Sub County in Kabale district is stuck with seven broken bridges. The bridges were washed away by heavy rains in May last year.  One of the bridges connects Kaharo sub county headquarters to Kabale-Ntungamo road. The others are Busamaye, Burambira, Karehe and Nyamugoye bridges.  

Jolly Binamaryo, a resident of Kitohwa parish in Kaharo Sub County says the failure to repair the bridges has affected the transportation of farm produce to markets. Kaharo Sub County is well known for producing vegetables such as cabbages, Carrots, beetroot and Cauliflower among others.

Fredric Muhirwa is an onions farmer. He appeals to the authorities to rehabilitate the broken bridges urgently. Datsun Muhereza, the sub county LC III chairperson says the breakdown of the bridges has hampered access key institutions in the area.

Wilfred Niwagaba, the Ndorwa East County Member of Parliament says most of the affected bridges are under the district works department. He says they he is working closely with the district leadership to address the problem.

Patrick Besigye Keihwa, the Kabale LC V chairperson says the district lacks funds for repairing the affected bridges. According to Keihwa, they have forwarded the matter to the office of the prime minister for redress.
