The proprietor of Kalita Bus Transporters, Patrick Lucky is dead. Michael Asaba, the deceased’s young brother told Uganda Radio network that Lucky died on Tuesday night at the cancer institute, Mulago Hospital, where he was admitted on Monday.

Michael Asaba, the deceased’s young brother told Uganda Radio network that Lucky died on Tuesday night at the cancer institute, Mulago Hospital, where he was admitted on Monday.
According to Asaba, the 44-year-old businessman has for long been battling throat cancer.
Lucky gained prominence in 1999, when he set up Kalita bus transporters to ply the Fort-Portal-Kampala route. In early 2000, Lucky purchased more buses, making his company one of the leading bus companies in the western region and country. He offered employment to several residents of Fort Portal who worked in the transport company.
Currently, the buses ply the Fort-Portal-Kamwenge, Kampala-Mubende-Fort-Portal-Kasese-Bwera, Fort-Portal-Bundibugyo, Kampala-Kabale-Kisoro and Kampala-Nairobi routes.
In February 2012, the Transport Licensing Board (TLB) briefly suspended the operation license of Kalita Transporters after one of its buses was involved in an accident along Kampala-Masaka road that claimed three lives. The TLB Secretary Winston Katushabe then said that many of the buses belonging to the Company were in Dangerous Mechanical Condition not fit to be on the road.
At the time of his death, the bus company owned 50 buses.
Prior to his business in the bus transport sector, Lucky owned a bakery in Fort Portal town.
