Kampala Business Community Raises UGX 205m for Kasubi Reconstruction

The money was collected from St. Balikuddembe Park yard vendors, Kikuubo trading center, Ravens Hotel at Kisekka Market, and Nakivubo stadium which was a central point for all traders from Kampala arcades and well-wishers.

At least UGX 205 million was collected in yesterdays fundraising Drive for the reconstruction of the Royal Tombs conducted in downtown Kampala by the Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga.

 

The money was collected from St. Balikuddembe Park yard vendors, Kikuubo trading center, Ravens Hotel at Kisekka Market, and Nakivubo stadium which was a central point for all traders from Kampala arcades and well-wishers.

 

Park yard vendors collectively contributed UGX 26 Million while Arcade traders under the leadership of Freedom City’s owner John Sebalamu raised UGX 178million.

Kattikiro Charles Peter Mayiga encouraged the traders to work hard, embrace farming and exhibit patience, persistence and determination in order to succeed in businesses. He also called for honesty saying this would rid Uganda of counterfeit products which have flooded the market.

Mayiga equally cautioned city dwellers against lawlessness. He cited recent reports women who were undressed for dressing indecently saying the act and consequential impact is worse than the intent of the attacked individual.

Mayiga reiterated that after the Kasubi Tombs reconstruction the Kingdom would embark on the Bulange-Mengo unfinished building to ensure that it is finished.
