Vincent Khisa, the LC3 chairperson Kamu sub-county says that agricultural and tourism activities have been affected in the area due to the bad roads. He says the community initiative would enable easier transportation of produce to the markets.

“The district alone produces maize, beans, and matooke annually on large scale. However, these crops never make it to the market, thus a major food basket is shutting out due to impassable roads” he said.

Robert Kugonza, the Maintenance Engineer Uganda National Roads Authority Mbale Sub Station, says the road has been earmarked to be worked on in the next quarter.

He said that they are expecting some money and the road will be worked on soon.
