Kamuli Pupil Dies During Athletics Competition

Emmanuel Mukombe died on Friday at Busota Primary School while competing in the 400-meter short relay race. Mukombe fell down and died instantly.
A 14-year-old pupil of Butabala Primary School in Kamuli district has died instantly during the municipal schools sports day competitions.

Ivan Musoke, the municipal inspector of schools says that the school authorities tried to provide first aid to Musoke but he was already dead.

“Musoke fell down while leading in the short relay race and we all anticipated that, he would wake up but five minutes, the first aid team ran to his rescue only to find him dead,” he said.

Elivaidah Nabirye, the school headteacher says that she wasn’t aware whether the deceased had any illness which might have caused off his death.

“Musoke has been very active in all co-curricular activities and had never collapsed before or chronically ill to the sports teacher, it is so sad that we lost him today,” she said.

Nabirye adds that “Musoke is a total orphan who was handed over to the school following the death of his parents in 2016 and was studying on scholarships awarded him for his active participation in co-curricular activities,”

Michael Kasadha, the Busoga North Police Spokesperson says that police is waiting for the post-mortem report to carry on with investigations.
