On the 9th of January 2025, a group of suspected Karamojong armed warriors attacked the herders at Pian-Upe Game Reserve and killed two juveniles before raiding 500 heads of cattle. The juveniles killed were identified as Lod aged 14 and Pulkol aged 16 years while Isaac Karimok, aged 18 was severely injured.
Joint security forces in the south Karamoja are actively hunting
for the Karamojong warriors who killed two juveniles before raiding over 500
heads of cattle in Loreng Sub-County, Nakapiripirit District.

before raiding 500 head of cattle. The juveniles killed were identified as Lod

Mike Longole, the Mt Moroto regional police spokesperson said
that the joint forces responded swiftly to the deadly attack, and managed to
recover 419 cows.
Longole said that they are actively hunting for the criminals
and also recovering the remaining raided livestock.
‘’We denounce this heinous act in the strongest terms
possible. The targeting of innocent civilians, including children, is
unacceptable and goes against the principles of humanity. We urge all parties
involved to refrain from violence and work towards peaceful coexistence!’’ Longole
warned.
Longole condemned the brutal and senseless attack
on Pokot herders and juveniles adding that it threatened the peace between
the two communities of Pokot and the Pian.
He reiterated that the police have launched an investigation
into the incident and are working closely with the UPDF to apprehend the
perpetrators. "We assure the public that we will do everything in our power to
bring those responsible to justice."
Longole urged all communities in the region to remain calm
and peaceful. He also advises herders and communities to be vigilant and report
any suspicious activities to the authorities immediately.
