A mob mainly comprising of women has beheaded unidentified man accused of mutilating a seven-year old boy in Moroto district.  The incident occurred on Sunday at Nawanatau village in Nadunget Sub County, 10 kilometers South West of Moroto town.

Police have identified the victim as Okello who was looking after a family herd, 200 meters off Moroto-Soroti road. Irene Aceng, the Karamoja Regional police spokesperson describes the incident as awful. She explains that, the unidentified man found Okello and another child looking after animals and attempted to capture both of them but the elder boy managed to escape.

Aceng explains that, the minor ran back home to alert their parents who rushed to see what had happened only to find the unidentified man slitting the throat of the young boy. She says the mob descended on the suspect and beat him up before they slit his throat using an arrow.

Aceng says Okello is currently admitted at Moroto referral Hospital in critical condition with a cracked skull. She says investigations are on to establish the identity of the man and killer women. Max Lokabenyan, the Nadunget Sub County LC III Chairperson condemns the incident. He asks the community to avoid taking rush decisions saying if they had arrested the attacker he would have been a good source of information on child killers in Karamoja.

At least six children have been beheaded by unknown people in Karamoja with Moroto registering the largest number of victims over the last two year.
