Tonny Ssempebwa, the Kasangati Town Council LC
III Chairperson in Wakiso district is still in custody at Hoima Central Police
station following his arrest on Tuesday afternoon.
He was picked up on Tuesday afternoon in Duhaga cell Kahoora division Hoima Municipality near the Hoima Forum
for Democratic Change-FDC party offices for allegedly campaigning using a government
vehicle.
He was intercepted while planning to attend the campaign rally
of Asinasi Kamanda Nyakato, the FDC candidate
for the Hoima Woman parliamentary by election at Kigorobya Sub County.
Ssempebwa
was using a government Double cabin registration number LG0039-109 that belongs
to Kasangati town council.
According to police, at
the time of arrest, Ssempebwa was found distributing
red berets, which are used by people power activists. Police impounded the
vehicle and towed it to Hoima central police station where it is parked.

The Hoima woman MP seat fell vacant after the incumbent, Tophace Kaahwa
Byagira opted to represent the people of the newly created Kikuube district
