The Basongora were reportedly shouting and accusing the district Chairperson of spending the entire weekend in Bundibugyo district when his constituents were mourning.

It is reported that Lt. Col. Mawa had insisted on attending the burials but was saved by his driver who whisked him away from the charged crowd.

over 80 people were confirmed dead following the attacks by unknown gunmen in Bundibugyo, Kasese and Ntoroko districts.

Although the motive of the attackers has not yet been established, security sources said the attacks could be linked to clashes between the Bakonzo, Bamba, Basongora and Banyabindi ethnic tribes.
