Fred Baluku a resident of Kisanga A Cell says he has been unable to drive his car home after the road connecting to his house developed huge gullies on Saturday.
Floods have destroyed several
roads in Kasese municipality affecting traffic flow and business. The most affected roads are in Kasanga A, Saluti and Mumbuzi cells in Nyamwamba Division.
Many of these were recently rehabilitated. Some business owners and residents are unable to
access their premises and homes with motorized transport means.
This followed floods that swept through the town on Saturday
morning after River Nyamwmab burst its banks.
Two people lost their lives and a number of properties
were also destroyed.

His bitter that to date, no action is being taken by
the municipal leadership to clear the affected areas.
“As you see, you can’t drive or ride to these houses,
so I have to stop at Crescent road junction and walk home…” he noted. Similarly Arafat Bwambale,a boda boda rider in Kisanga
A says the broken down roads are significantly affecting their business with
some of their clients adamantly refusing increase fares despite using longer
alternative routes to their destinations.
Justine kamahanga, working in Mawa market says she has to walk home earlier than usual because her residence was still surrounded by water by Monday morning.
Elias Byamungu, the Kasese District
Chief Administrative Officer CAO says they are trying to mobilise resources and
clear the affected roads but also clear a section of the river to create a wider bed for the water.
