Residents and leaders in Kasese District are gearing up to host national celebrations for World Tourism Day this Friday, September 27th, under the theme “Tourism and Peace.” This prestigious event highlights the district's remarkable potential as a tourist destination and its unwavering commitment to fostering peace and harmony.

Elias Byamungu, the Kasese District Chief Administrative Officer, expressed confidence in the preparations made for the celebrations, ensuring that the event meets both national and international standards. “This is an opportunity for Kasese and the broader Rwenzori region to reassure the world that it is a safe and peaceful destination for adventure and business,” he stated.

District Vice Chairperson Girivazio Monday Bwambale praised the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities for their support of the tourism sector in the district. He encouraged the community to embrace the significance of the day, urging them to showcase their work and promote the region's treasures.

Kameli Zepha Bwambale, the director of Musingika Tourism Company Limited, emphasized that the increased visibility of this global celebration will bolster the local tourism industry. He believes this will attract future visitors and investors, enabling Kasese to emerge as a leading tourist destination in Uganda while generating employment opportunities and stimulating the local economy.

At the launch of the Tourism Day celebrations, Samora Semakula from the Uganda Tourism Board affirmed their readiness to promote the region. Meanwhile, Rwenzori East Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushiime assured the public that security has been heightened to ensure the safety of all attendees during the festivities.

In the lead-up to Friday's celebrations, the community will engage in various activities, including cleaning exercises, a sports gala, and exhibitions, showcasing the vibrant culture and attractions of the Kasese District.
