Security personnel in Kasese District have warned residents to avoid travelling at night. The warning follows two separate bomb explosions on Saturday and Monday.

On Saturday, an explosion went off at Digida Pork Joint in Komamboga killing one person. Two days later, an explosive device went off from within Swift Bus as it travelled through Lungala in Mpigi district.

Ismail Kaawo, the Rwenzori East Acting regional police Spokesperson says that the police and sister agencies have intensified operations to deal with suspected criminals in the region and residents who will not adhere to the directives.

According to Kaawo, Kasese being a border district is prone to infiltration of wrong elements from the Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC.  He says the operations are also meant to curb the increasing cases of robbery.
