The Police Political Commissar, Asan Kasingye has criticized the police leadership in Kitgum district for operating in isolation from the public and district leaders.

Kansingye's dissatisfaction stems from a petition to police headquarters in Kampala by Kitgum Resident District Commissioner, Christopher Omara citing insubordination; negligence and brutality of some police officers.

The police under the leadership of Moses Oola, the District Police Commander have attracted criticism from the public following the arrests and beating of suspects in connection with torching of Capernaum Church of all Nations, Kitgum branch.

The police were also accused of issuing orders to a gang that demolished a satellite market in Central Division on Thursday leading to the destruction of merchandise belonging to more than 100 traders.

Kasingye who has been in Kitgum since Tuesday says that problems that fuelled public frustration against the police were as a result of police operating in isolation.
